We form and maintain on-going interfaith encounter groups, or centers, that bring together neighboring communities across the country. Each center is led by an interfaith coordinating team with one person for each community in the area.

The goal of this group is to develop into a “mini-community” that exemplifies the desired relations of mutual respect and friendship while respecting and reinforcing the unique identity of each community. These groups then act as models for the surrounding community of how multiple faiths can live side by side in peace while becoming growing islands of coexistence communities.

The backbone of the groups’ process is the monthly session of joint study. Dedicated to one theme each time, these sessions usually open with a short presentation followed by joint study and discussion of the beliefs, practices and sacred texts of the respective traditions.

We hold regular interfaith meetings and conferences in cooperation with Palestinian organizations, with the objective to build peace between the two nations on a people-to-people level. Because we take an inter-religious, non-political, approach we are able to engage in the process people from all parts of the political spectrum in their respective societies. Even as the violence continues, these meetings are carried on cautiously, in carefully selected locations.

מטרת הקבוצה היא להתפתח לכדי "מיני קהילה" שתדגים את היחסים הרצויים של כבוד הדדי וידידות תוך כבוד ואף העצמה של הזהות הייחודית של כל קהילה. הקבוצות משמשות כמודל של חיים משותפים לכלל הקהילות ומהוות גרעינים צומחים של קיום משותף.

המפגש החודשי הוא הבסיס לצמיחה של הקבוצה. כל מפגש מוקדש לנושא מסויים. המפגש נפתח עם הצגה קצרה של הנושא ורובו שיחה ולימוד משותפים של האמונות, המנהגים והטקסטים של המסורות השונות.

אנו מקיימים קבוצות מפגש וכנסים, לעיתים בשיתוף עם ארגונים פלסטינים, במטרה לבנות שלום בין העמים והקהילות ברמת השטח. בשל העובדה שאנו נוקטים גישה בין-דתית, לא פוליטית, משתתפים ביננו אנשים מכל קצות הקשת הפוליטית. גם בזמנים של אלימות ממשיכים המפגשים במקומות הנבחרים בקפידה.

Praying Together in Jerusalem is a movement whose participants believe in the power of side-by-side prayer to bring friendship, respect and, ultimately, peace between people of all faiths. Gatherings have been held since October 2015 on the last Thursday of every month at sunset, meeting at the Jaffa Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem and praying at various venues within and outside the walls.

Our hope is to be joined by members of all faiths who wish to show their love of the Holy City and all of its inhabitants through a public expression of their faith.

In addition to our regular gatherings, PTIJ organizes occasional events to provide opportunities for people of diverse faiths to meet, pray alongside each other and share wisdom from their various sacred texts.

PTIJ was the initiative of Peta Jones Pellach and Fr. Russ McDougall, residents of Jerusalem, one Jewish, the other Christian. They were soon joined by Rodef Shalom Eliyahu McLean and many others. The movement has grown, and in addition to individuals, many organizations committed to interfaith dialogue and peace have given their support. The list of participating organizations includes:
